Degenerative Achilles (Haglunds Deformity)
Degenerative Achilles (Haglunds Deformity)
Achilles tendonitis with inflammation and pain at the insertion of the Achilles tendon with retrocalcaneal bursitis and Haglunds deformity (calcaneal bony prominence)
In minor and moderate cases where the Achilles tendon is functional with limited degenerative changes, Dr. Marsh resects the Haglunds deformity and retrocalcaneal bursa through an arthroscopic approach
In severe cases with limited Achilles function and significant degenerative changes, Dr. Marsh performs a retrocalcaneal bursa excision, resection of Haglund deformity and debridement of diseased tendon with anchor repair through an open approach
